Description

An archaeology of the Lansdown studio, composed from a lifetime of making.

The six large panels in The Architectural Archive gather plaster and resin castings from Eric Lansdown’s working library of miniature architecture: portals, pediments, columns, staircases, balustrades and carved ornament first developed for the studio’s dollhouses and aviaries. Mounted on woven hessian and framed in wood, each arrangement preserves the marks of experiment, repetition and handwork in a one-of-a-kind piece of sculptural wall art.

The tradition began in San Francisco in the 1980s with Eric’s mother, Carole Lansdown, a lifelong decorative artist and close studio collaborator. She collected surplus castings, trials and imperfect fragments from her son’s workshop and composed them into decorative panels, turning the evidence of the making process into artworks in their own right.

Revisited in Gabian, southern France, the series connects the family studio’s past with its future. Each panel carries fifty years of carved forms while helping transmit the studio’s techniques to the emerging artists now learning beside Eric.

Choose from six signed compositions, each dated 2026 and available as a unique work. The series will be presented at the KDF Christmas Show at Kensington Town Hall, London, on 28–29 November 2026.
