Description

Whitestone Glass Roof House is a monumental architectural dollhouse influenced by French Second Empire mansions and Parisian hôtels particuliers. Its pale stone-effect façade is articulated with rusticated masonry, classical window surrounds, arched fanlights, tall French doors and ornamental metal balconies.

Above, a slate-toned mansard roof rises into a domed central pavilion with an oval oeil-de-boeuf window. Curved glass roof lanterns bring the lightness of a conservatory to the formal architecture, while a hand-painted cypress mural continues the story along the side elevation.

Handmade by Eric Lansdown in Gabian, southern France, the piece brings together traditional modelmaking, decorative painting, casting, woodwork, glass and metalwork. Conceived as collectible architectural art, it transforms the grandeur of a full-scale French residence into an intimate world intended to be lived with and passed between generations.

This work has found a home in a private collection and remains presented as part of the Lansdown Arts archive.
