Description

Cypress Tree Glass Roof House is a one-of-a-kind architectural dollhouse inspired by the tall proportions and ornate rooflines of French Second Empire townhouses. Its warm, hand-finished ochre façade is framed by carved architectural details, tall French windows and miniature metal balconies. Above, a patinated green mansard roof combines sculpted dormers, ornamental chimneys and curved glass roof lanterns, while hand-painted cypress trees rise along the side elevation.

Made by Eric Lansdown in Gabian, southern France, the work brings together traditional decorative painting, modelmaking, casting, woodwork, glass and metalwork. Designed as collectible architectural art rather than a conventional toy, it is an incomplete world created to hold stories and pass between generations.

This piece has found a home in a private collection and remains presented as part of the Lansdown Arts archive.
