Description

An intimate architectural study drawn from fifty years of making in the Lansdown studio.

At the centre of this singular composition stands a Gothic-inspired architectural form from Eric Lansdown’s working archive of miniature carvings and castings. Hand-cast in plaster and resin, its slender uprights, pointed tracery and ornamental details rise against woven hessian within a warm wooden frame.

The series continues a tradition begun in San Francisco during the 1980s by Eric’s mother, Carole Lansdown. A lifelong decorative artist and studio collaborator, Carole assembled surplus castings, trials and fragments into decorative panels—transforming the evidence of the making process into works of art in their own right.

Revisited in Gabian, southern France, The Architectural Archive preserves fifty years of carved forms while helping transmit the studio’s techniques from master to apprentice. No. 07 is a unique work, signed and dated 20 July 2026.

The collection will be presented at the KDF Christmas Show at Kensington Town Hall, London, on 28–29 November 2026.
